Will the Tele-Commuting trend help the VA Industry gain credibility?
This is a very interesting article by Gerry Blackwell on SmallBusinessComputing.com discussing some viable technology solutions that allow small businesses to take advantage of tele-commuting opportunities and, although it’s not mentioned in the article, Virtual Assistants.
As companies become more green conscious and technology continues to evolve to support remote-access capabilities the workforce talent is pulling them to implement these solutions. Corporate America may be taking awhile to catch up to the technology (VA Industry News - September 17, 2008) but if they want the talent, they may have to make some adjustments.
This Article in Wired Magazine does an excellent job of pointing out just how misguided the foes of tele-commuting really are, in my opinion, anyway.
So, as the economy continues to struggle (perhaps an understatement), more companies are being forced to make drastic cut backs in overhead - but, work still needs to get done. As tele-commuting becomes more mainstream, that will pull the VA Industry along too - for those businesses that don’t need full time employees and don’t want to pay the tax and benefit costs associated even with tele-commuting employees.
I’d like to hear your opinions on these trends. Have you experienced similar situations or do you see something different?
