SmallBizTrends says Businesses want Freelancers!
I really enjoy the Small Business Trends - a “comprehensive online publication for small business owners, entrepreneurs and the people who interact with them.” Last week Anita Campbell posted an article about the current trend in Small Businesses to hire Independent Contractors and Freelancers.
SurePayroll published some more hard evidence further demonstrating this trend. Every month they calculate a contractor Index that shows the percentage of 1099 contractors to W-2 employees hired by their clients in the past month. In February, nearly four out of 100 new hires were Independent Contractors.
Ms. Campbell suggests four possible implications, the most significant of which is, in my opinion, that Independent Contractors are a great way to staff. Web tech tools and freelance sites like oDesk and Elance make hiring freelancers more cost effective and time efficient for both virtual businesses and traditional bricks and mortar.
Just more evidence that there are tremendous opportunities for Virtual Assistants!
