Read a Book - Just for Fun!

Apr 24, 2009  |  under VA's Just Want to Have Fun!  |  by Sandra

Happy Friday!

Time to think about taking some time off just for you. So what to do with your precious allotment of “You Time”? Most of the time I recommend something that gets you out of your home/office and out into the world of face-to-face interaction but today I’m going to suggest something to do by yourself. Go read a book.

No, not the latest personal growth or business development bestseller. Go read a novel. Something fun. Something completely unrelated to your life. Jump into another world for a while and take a complete break from reality. Go meet some new friends - maybe a princess and her handsome prince, aliens from another planet or creatures living under the sea.

If it’s cold where you are, build a fire and cozy up with your new friends. If it’s warm and sunny, pour a glass of lemonade and sit on your patio with your new friends. If your family is home but you need a break, you can still curl up on your couch while they do whatever they are doing and you take a mental break.

Nothing to read? Take a break and go shopping at your local library. Library cards are free and your new friends are waiting for you to drop by for a visit!

Have a Happy!

There are few things I’d rather do with my time than curl up with a book. I love, love, LOVE new worlds and new words to ponder as my head hits the pillow and I bid farewell to the day.

Thanks for reminding me that I do need to take time out for me. Usually I sit down and am reading a business book but because of you I am going to finish a book that I started to read last year and have been feeling guilty if I sit down to read it. Even when my husband & I go on a trip I bring a business book! Today it is catching up on reading that book and not feeling guilty!
